We would like to welcome you to Durham University Russian Society (DURS).
... After a big gap in our communication, we come back!
This year we will continue to be part of RussianStudents.net. This portal unites the most active Russian speaking communities across the UK universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Bath, Warwick, Edinburgh, etc. As part of this portal, we will not only have access to monetary funding of certain events, but will be also presented with a number of recruitment opportunities in leading institutions in CIS, both for internship and graduate opportunities. As an example, our members were previously recruited by Deloitte Moscow, and this year we are planning to bring more opportunities for our active members to be noticed and hired.
Our forthcoming event is Russian Festival of Arts 2011! February the 19th, Van Mildert College, Durham
This year the main theme will be devoted to SILVER AGE of Russian literature and arts. Blok, Rakhmaninov, Stanislavskiy, Pasternak... Immerse into the St. Petersburg world before the revolution and learn about some of the most outstanding Russian poets, writers, musicians and artists. We are grateful to our speakers, the renowned specialists on Silver Age period: Dr. Avlril Sokolov, Prof. Patrick O’Meara, Dr. Anthony Parton, Prof. Mikhail Epshtein. As a part of the festival, Art Exhibition of Kirill Sokolov and Russian classical music will add to your experience.
For all native Russian speakers, we have invited special guests from the City, to promote the mentoring scheme (one week shadowing in a City firm), if you are interested in career opportunities in London. Come and learn more about it and preferably have your CV ready with you. Meanwhile, if you are a student of Russian in Durham, come and hear the fourth years speaking about their year abroad experiences in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Ulyanovsk!
You will not regret coming to our festival, but if you cannot make it, do not worry. There is another term worth of events ahead of us!
